I grew up reading books about helicopters, so when my son got interested in them I went looking for a big book of helicopers to read to him. This one is perfect and it has a wealth of information about the entire history of rotary wing aircraft, including autogyros and some of the variable-wing craft (V-22 Ospreys, etc). Really, if you want a book that has a lot of helicopters in it that's a really interesting read, this is the perfect book to get. I wouldn't even waste my time with anything else. I spent a lot of time looking for the best helicopter book available these days and this one is the best by a really long shot.
This book has details about helicopters way better than I thought it would have. It also contains history's attempts in creating vertical flight to an alphabetical order of different types of military helicopters used.

Wonderful photos, my 9 years old grandson was immersed in this for days. His uncle is a helo pilot, and the uncle was impressed as well.
Absolutely an excellent book. Most helicopters are spinoff of a government project, usually a military need.
