An Introduction to Literature (16th Edition) was a useful tool in teaching a freshman English course. Older editions are limited in quantity of copies available, but not in quality.
The book was exactly how they described but unfortunately there was more to it. It was missing about a good sixty something pages but the pages weren't ripped out or anything, just missing. I don't blame them and really don't think they would have known unless they were looking up something within those pages. Once I contacted them again about it, they reimbursed me right away. If it wasn't for the missing chapters, I would give five stars.
I bought this for my English class (101B), and this book contains mostly short stories and poetry. Because of the contents I really enjoyed class. Even though I passed the class, I still find myself going through the book. The book got to me in about 4 days.
In this book, there are Shakesperean plays, poetry, drama and more. From Susan Glaspell to Shirley Jackson to Alice Walker and everything in between. Hawthorne is wonderful, I plan to read more of him. James Joyce was a bit difficult for me. Even though this book was a requirement for my school class, I am grateful for the insights and breadth of literature covered within.
There are lot of Authors in this book that are incredible. Flannery O'Connor is amazing and even the song Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles is in there! Times are a'changing, the play Fences, and many many other incredible short stories, poems, and other pieces of greatness.
This book has been a good learning tool. It is easy to carry and the information is easy to access. I like the thin pages and the content has been amazing. I have learned a lot and I will be using the skill I have learned from this book to write a eight page report on poem comparisons.
Was very happy with my purchase and it was beyond good for the quality and the appearance of the book! Service was fast which is what us students need!
What was needed for a kid in school. Good price and very happy.
