If you enjoy coloring as an adult, this is a wonderful addition to your collection of coloring books. Every other page features a fully detailed image to color with lots of distinctive areas to add lots of color, along with a verse from Psalms (New King James Version, I think). Then the next page has a verse and a smaller design on a darker background that you can either enjoy or color (almost the reverse of the other pages with white backgrounds). At first I was a little worried since the pages aren't back-to-back, but with 100 pages in the book, you have plenty to color and the way it's structured means that I could easily see these pages being framed, especially if you enjoy displaying your works of art. And these could easily become works of art.This coloring book is beautiful, and I also like that it draws from the Psalms, since I find this book of the Bible to be particularly soothing. So the calming activity of coloring mixed with these lovely reminders and Biblical acclamations come together to create a coloring book that is very helpful in reducing tension from a tough day or just from the everyday stress of the world around us.**NOTE: I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for a review. However, I value reviews that are written honestly since I use them in my shopping hunts, too. So, please know that my opinion here is my truthful assessment of this product, and it's not influenced in any way.
My adult daughters--in their 20's--are very artsy and their corresponding talent matches! Unfortunately, MY talents don't compare to theirs. When I received this book, my older daughter was impressed! She thoroughly paged through the book commenting on the nice variety of patterns available to color. Some are whimsical speaking to a younger adult while others are more traditional and appealing to older adults. Honestly, I think even I could complete a nicely colored page.My daughter and I both agree upon a desire to see the integrated gray, Scripture pages in colored paper although it's not a deal breaker for the reasonable price point. When you are coloring something with words that feed your soul,you can't go wrong no matter the page's color.NOTE: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a an honest, forthright review that is intended to accurately describe this product.
I received this lovely adult coloring book for review and found it to be visually appealing and spiritually calming and, well, lovely. As I thought of the colors to use, and considered the text I was calmed and felt a sense of peace. If you enjoy coloring pages or know someone who does this would make a very thoughtful gift as a prayer companion or journal or simply a nice way to spend a quiet hour.
Let me first say, I've come across many adult coloring books, and this by far surpasses most in design and flow. Coloring the Psalms gives exactly what its name intends. You might say, "Adult coloring book?" I say, "Yes! Adults can color too! It doesn't have to stop just because you're not a child anymore!"Coloring has to be one of the most therapeutic adventures I've had the honor to practice. As a therapist in training and believer in God, it's no wonder this book resonated so well with me. I cannot tell you how many times I've felt a slump in my day and all I needed to do was find time to rest or play. If it's not clear sunshine outside I find myself staying inside and either reading a book or getting creative, this definitely did the trick!1. Its full of beautifully designed scenes of nature, animals and affirming ascetics such as bicycles and pouring water.2. There's a handful of scriptures from the book of Psalms (New King James Version); However, it's an easy read!3. Every now and then there will be patterns such as blankets or flowers you can color as well.4. I can't wait for their next book!If you feel you're in need of finding something that is soothing and doesn't take much time out of your day to accomplish, this book can definitely be one of those solutions!Lastly, because I am in the position of working with diverse groups as many new therapists do, I cannot tell you how helpful this will be while using art therapy! Each page seems to add something a bit different so I do not feel as if I've already colored the same drawing, and I know my clients will feel just the same! Good stuff, please keep it up!!
